Amitabh Bachchan has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award.
The actor expressed his gratitude, and posted on Twitter: ‘There is a paucity of words searching a response .. for the generosity of words that pour in .. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was instituted in 1969, the same year that Bachchan made his acting debut with Saat Hindustani.
The Big B will complete 50 years in the industry on November 7.
Congratulations have been pouring in on social media after Bachchan was announced as the award’s newest recipient.

While the world congratulated Amitabh Bachchan, Ram Gopal Varma had another take: I have no idea on what’s great about Dadasaheb becos I couldn’t complete seeing his Raja Harishchandra for more than 10 mints inspite of multiple attempts and I saw ur multiple films 1O’s of times..lf at all Dada saheb should be given Amitabh bachchan award.
He added, ‘Majority of earlier recipients of Dada award are in no way even a match stick to u @Sr Bachchan in comparison of u as a raging fire ..So am not impressed with neither the Dada nor whoever the representative committee members who I will bet haven’t seen a single film of Dada’s.’
