Five crore people in Indonesia vulnerable to severe drought: report
Moscow 01 August (Sputnik) 28 out of 34 provinces of Indonesia are facing the threat of severe drought that will affect at least 50 million people.
It is dry due to fluctuations in the ocean temperature of the equatorial Pacific Ocean. This drought has affected 247,100 acres of arable land, while 9000 hectares of land has been damaged by soil.
Most parts of Indonesia’s Java, Bali, and Lesser Sunda islands have not received rain for more than 60 days.
According to the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the drought will be very severe in August while the effect will be there till September. The administration has started providing clean water to the people.
